Book Review - Black Suits You By Novoneel Chakraborty

Novoneel Chakraborty isn't as famous as Chetan Bhagat or Durjoy Dutta or some other Indian writer. But if you have read his "Stranger Trilogy" comprising of "Marry Me Stranger", "All Yours Stranger" and "Forget Me Not Stranger" then you must have been eagerly waiting for "Black Suits You."

Prologue

Just after reading the first few lines of the prologue, I became hooked. This is an erotic thriller and you're gonna get that erotic feel right from the beginning.

Story

1. Seduce

It starts with a typical plot. Kiyan is an engineer turned writer and his first trilogy, Handcuffs, has become a bestseller. He is doing rounds around various cities of India to promote his book. You get a little bit of backstory and know a name "Tina Awasthi." Kiyan is also being chased by a girl through the events and has no clue who she may be.

Kiyan's love-story takes the centre place for the next few pages. Then you come to know the name of the girl chasing him, Kashti (or, is it?). She gives Kiyan a once-in-a-lifetime erotic feel inside a steam room.(Spoilers!) But Kiyan couldn't see her and is now desperate to meet Kashti. You also get to know more about Kiyan from his girlfriend, Anaysha's diary.

Kiyan once again bumps into Kashti in another book event and this time she gives him a gift.

2. Snatch

Kiyan breaks up with his Anaysha, the girl who was there for him at his worst. Kashti now has whom she wanted, Kiyan. But Kiyan is tired of Kashti's over possessiveness and wants to get rid of her. So he goes to seek help. Any idea who he goes to you? Yeah, Anaysha! But he can't get rid of her because of Kashti's gift. The plot complexes and now you get to know how dangerous a gift can be.

3. Destroy

Woohoo! How can an erotic thriller have a chapter like this? That's the beauty of Novoneel's writing. You don't know what's coming next.

The story now becomes a rat and cat chase. Kiyan with Anaysha's help tries to find about Kashti's previous life to get some evidence against her. Do they find something? Yes, they do! But now you're left asking yourself about any possible connection between Kashti and Tina.

Is this all a revenge plot? Kiyan hallucinates about Tina but comforts himself by reminding that she's dead. (Or is she?)

The climax approaches and you get to know about the real motives of Anaysha, Tina and Kashti. Everything, starting from the beginning to the end seems like a well-executed plan now. But what is this plan? Read that in the book.
