Fun Fact - The First Cry Of A Baby Is Very Important

You've heard of this phenomena but you don't know the mechanism. Actually, most of the people think the first cry of a baby is funny. Today, I'm gonna tell you about the scientific and physiological mechanism associated with "The First Cry Of A Baby."

Newborns always cry after cutting the umbilical cord. I'll explain the mechanism in two subpoints -

1. Placental events

When the baby is in the womb, lung doesn't function as the respiratory organ. Lung remains as a solid organ. The baby receives blood from the mother via the placenta. This is called fetal circulation.

So the baby receives Oxygen, nutrients etc from the mother. Produced CO2 by the baby also diffuses out to the mother's blood via the placenta.

2. Afterbirth events

The moment the umbilical cord is cut and clamped, the baby now has to survive on its own. So many physiological and structural changes occur within the baby's body. Due to stoppage of blood flow from the placenta, sudden hypoxia (decreased amount of Oxygen in the body) occurs in the baby. The CO2 level also increases and produces hypercapnia.

So, the respiratory centre gets strongly stimulated. Then the baby tries to expand his lungs and the baby does the obvious. He cries. With the first cry, he inhales air for the first time. As a result, lung gets inflated with air.

• As you can see, a baby's breathing is directly related to his first cry.

• The first cry also helps to remove any amniotic fluid in the lungs or in the air passage.

Must Watch TV Series - Part 2

I've stated this before in the previous article but I'll say it again - This list contains my personal recommendations and isn't necessarily a part of the best critically acclaimed tv shows.

You know by now that I'm quite a Netflix fan. So, I'll start this article with a Netflix series.

1. Jessica Jones

Another mind-blowing adaptation of a Marvel character. She's a former superhero. It's also based in New York city like Daredevil. Another home-run by Netflix. Like Daredevil, this show is also dark, gritty and violent.

Current Running Season - The 1st season has finished airing now and it has been renewed for a 2nd season by Netflix.

2. Game Of Thrones

Undoubtedly, the most popular tv series on the earth right now. The term "spoilers" got spoiled because of excessive use by "Game Of Thrones" fans. Based on George R.R Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire", this fantasy has everything you could ask for - brilliant story, beautiful cinematography, gorgeous ladies, se*, music, fantastic performance by characters and what not. 

Although this is still my 2nd favourite TV series, Sherlock continues to be the first one. Watch this show for the love of god.

Current Running Season - A total of 6 seasons have been aired till now with the 7th season airing this year. This show will conclude with the 8th season next year.

3. Luke Cage

Another superhero Netflix series? You gotta be kidding me. But it is what it is. Another street-level hero. And like the other two, it is also based in New York city. He has got bullet-proof skin and girls will indeed say "Sweet Christmas" by seeing him.

Current Running Season - The 1st season has finished airing now and a 2nd season is officially on the cards according to Netflix.

4. Breaking Bad

A show without a single flaw. That's the best way to describe "Breaking Bad." The story revolves around a teacher (who is a cancer patient by the way) and one of his fellow students and drugs. I won't spoil anything for you. Watch it and give your feedback in the comment section below.

1. Preventing infections

Beards act as protector of your skin. They can trap microorganisms and foreign particles from getting into your body. That's how beards can protect you against infections also.

That's a pretty disgusting looking bacteria.

2. Natural Sunscreen

Yeah, you read that right. As beards cover most of the area of your cheeks, they simultaneously also block the harmful UV rays coming from the skin. There are two types of UV rays:

First one is UVA which introduces tanning, wrinkles and other ageing symptoms to your skin. The second one is UVB which is responsible for skin cancers and to some extent - sunburns.

Growing a long and healthy beard can get you almost 90-95% protection against UV rays. See the image below. Beards work somewhat in a similar manner.

3. Moisturising your skin

Beards keep the natural oils produced by your body in the surface of your skin. Thus beards can protect you against cold weather, rough, dry air etc. So, grow a beard and face the winter.

4. Keeps your skin hydrated

There's this thing called "Hyaluronic acid" which is naturally present in the skin. Hyaluronic acid molecules can trap water molecules. When you wash your face, water molecules that get trapped in the beard can provide the hyaluronic acid molecules with water. And Hyaluronic acid:

It can keep your skin hydrated. It also acts as an anti-oxidant and thereby prevents ageing of your skin.

Must Watch TV Series - Part 1

I'm starting a new series of articles today. Let's assume you're pretty new to the world of tv series and having a hard time deciding the list of "must watch tv series." I'll try to help you through this article.

Remember, this list contains my personal recommendations and isn't a list of best-rated tv shows. You can find those type of lists of "IMDB."

I started exploring the world of tv shows back in 2010. I was fond of Hollywood movies from my childhood. Somebody recommended this show called "Sherlock." I neglected that recommendation as I wasn't much into tv shows. Later, another friend recommended the same show and that's how it all started.

1. Sherlock

Couldn't find a better show to start the list. Sherlock is love, Sherlock is life. A modern-day adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's world famous detective stories. Combine that with Benedict Cumberbatch's (or, is it Wimbledon Tennis-match?) portraying of the "high functioning sociopath" and you get a tv series, the world is mad about.

Current Running Season - 4th season with only one episode remaining.

2. Stranger Things

With the exception of a few series, everything that Netflix touches, becomes gold. So when I first saw that Netflix was producing a TV series with the genre being "horror", I was sceptical at first. But as usual, it blew my mind. It starts with a typical plot - "boy gone missing and friends begin searching" but the following incidents will surely haunt you at night for quite a significant amount of time.

Current Running Season - The 1st season is finished now with the next season being slated to start in July.

3. House Of Cards

Another win for Netflix. A political drama at its finest. But when big names like Kevin Spacey and Kate Mara are attached with a TV series, things can rarely go south. If you're still not convinced then let me remind you that David Fincher (Fight Club, Se7en, The Social Network) had directed a few episodes also.

Current Running Season - There have been 4 seasons till now with season 5 coming in late February or early March.

4. Daredevil

Made in collaboration between Netflix and Marvel, this is one blo*dy brilliant show. The story revolves around Matthew Murdock, a brilliant blind advocate by the day and a protector of New-York city at night as Daredevil. This show has everything - a good story, a villain worth admiring and another vigilante, Frank Castle aka the Punisher.

Current Running Season - There have been 2 seasons till now with the next one being currently slated for 2018.

Conclusion

Read - "Must Watch TV Series - Part 2"

As you can see, I'm a little bit biased towards Netflix. It's not my fault, it's Netflix's as they have been making such great TV shows for quite some time now.

Raees vs Kaabil - Why Raees Has An Edge Over Kaabil At Box-Office

So the anticipated day is coming. We'll get to witness one of the biggest box-office clashes in the history of Indian cinema. Here's my take on why Raees has the edge in the "Raees vs Kaabil" fight.

Through the years, we've witnessed many box-office clashes. Actually, SRK is fond of clashes as it seems. His "Jab Tak Hai Jaan":


It clashed with Ajay Devgan's "Son Of Sardaar" during Diwali in 2012. In 2015, SRK's "Dilwale" went head to head against Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Ranveer Singh's "Bajirao Mastani." While SRK did won the first battle but lost badly to the period drama "Bajirao Mastani."

SRK then decided to go against Salman Khan's "Sultan." The clash was avoided luckily as Raees got postponed. And here we are - another battle between two Bollywood biggies. Raees and Kaabil - both are releasing on the same date, 25th January 2017. Let's compare them then.

Trailer

Trailers from both camps look promising for sure. Raees looks to be a "mass-entertainer" which the single screen audience will enjoy. At the same time, Kaabil somewhat seems to be an "off-bit" film which the urban audience will prefer for sure.

But Kaabil's story seems a bit much generic. On the other hand, Raees is based on a real-life story(Spoiler!)

Remember, a 3 minutes trailer is no indication of how well made a movie is:

Verdict - Kaabil's trailer just doesn't have the same wow factor as of Raees's.

Fanbase

This is an area where SRK has a wide lead over Hrithik. No matter how SRK's last few movies (Fan, Dilwale) have performed at the box-office, his fan base is still way more than Hrithik's. The fanbase is an important indication of opening day collections.

Verdict - Simply put, Raees will take a larger opening than Kaabil.

Actors

Shah Rukh Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui on one side and Hrithik Roshan, Ronit Roy on another side - when it comes to acting, they all are some of finest actors of this country.

But Kaabil may have an edge here because of the female lead. Yami Gautam can connect more easily with the Indian people than Mahira Khan as the later is from Pakistan. There's a bit much controversy over this matter as well. It may affect Raees.

Verdict - Kaabil has an edge in this department.

Mahira Khan

Directors

Rahul Dholakia, director of Raees has won a "National Film Award For Best Direction" for his movie "Parzania." But at the same time, he has done films like "Lamhaa" which was not received so well by the critics. Sanjay Gupta, director of Kaabil is much more experienced and has done films like "Kaante" which was well received by the critics. Kaante was based on Quentin Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs."

Verdict - A tie. Both directors have proved that they have the ability to direct good films.

Songs

Urvashi Rautela's Haseeno Ka Deewana is simply no match for Sunny Leone's Laila Main Laila. Arijit Singh's Zaalima, the other track from Raees seems to dominate over other songs from Kaabil also. Songs are one of the most important things to connect with the masses.

Verdict - Raees is a clear winner in this department.

Final Verdict

All in all, Raees will take in a much larger connection than Kaabil over the first weekend and possibly the first week. But thereafter, collections will solely depend upon "word of mouth." No matter who wins in the battle between "Raees vs Kaabil", the industry will win for sure.
